Bilirubin Skyrockets Again

On Thursday he had his appointment with Dr Valle at Christies. They took his bloods as usual and it revealed his bilirubin and calcium levels were through the roof again. So Dr Valle thought it best he be admitted to get these levels sorted once and forall because they can offer him nothing until they are. They were trying to admit him there at Christies but they had no beds available to he got sent to good ole' North Manchester General. Ward F6 which he's been in before. Whilst he's been in they have discovered that the lesion they saw on his lung is NOT actually cancer at all but a Deep Rooted Chest Infection!!! What a Relief that was. That brings a little more hope to the table and that little bit less the chemo has to tackle when we get to it. God is listening. So they've put him on a drip with strong antibiotics to get that sorted out. He had been wheezing for several days going up and down the stairs and even when he was talking but because he's asthmatic we thought it was merely his asthma, so naturally had been given him his inhalers. If only we had known... They are planning a small procedure for Monday to put in some shunts into his liver to make his bilirubin levels hopefully return to normal. Keep your fingers crossed this works. It's so important he starts his chemo ASAP. He had a bit of a wobbly today. He tried to discharge himself because he got suddenly very homesick. We were all in a bit of a panic because if he were to discharge himself god knows how long he'd have to wait to get this procedure done through outpatients. He really gave us quite a fright. But Mum managed to convince him it's in his best interest to stay there. And that it wasn't because we don't miss him or don't want him home but we don't want him having to wait longer for things or ending up back in hospital because he's still not well enough. He's been in a side room out of choice so he can sleep better but it's making him very lonely so Mum suggested to the nurse to bring him back out into the main ward so he can socialize and people watch to keep his mind occupied. After all he's not watching TV as he's banned from anything bad because of his moods and bad dreams. He's asking for "light" reading material again. Nothing with bad things in them. He's read every single one of the books everybody has so kindly sent him the last times he's been in. Will have to try and get ahold of some somehow to keep him occupied. He still sleeps quite alot but whilst he's awake we need to keep his mind off this. Graham is coming down on Tuesday to see him which will be nice. Dad keeps asking for him.
