I cannot believe I havent updated the blog in a week now. Sorry everyone. So much has gone on with Dad recently its been hard to keep up. Lets time travel back to... Tuesday, during refilling Dads med despenser I noticed he had not got enough Oxy and Morphine to last him the day. See Lloyds are always having problems with their delivery drivers for prescriptions and despite a good rollocking on the phone they couldnt deliver till the next day. Well those are controlled medications that cant be stopped suddenly so although my wheelchair battery was only on 4 bars I made my way upto the chemist. I had just reached Argyle Parade when I got a frantic phone call from Mum saying Dad had dashed out the door after me fearing my battery would die and id be stuck! I swiftly scanned around me but Dad was nowhere in site, I was starting to fear he'd be stubborn enough not to have even taken the bus up there. Mum told me to carry on into the chemist and get the meds and I decided I would back track my way home as if he was walking he couldnt of gotten far. Thankfully just after the guy handed me his meds I turned around and Dad was stood by the door with a huge grin on his face. I couldnt help but tease him by saying 'I heard you escaped!' He laughed. He had taken the bus up thank goodness but now I had another battle on my hands. He completely refused to take the bus home. We had a rest by the bench first and he took his tablets with some lucazade, then he went over to the pound shop where he spotted some lovely yellow flowers he wanted to buy Mum. I gave him a fiver for it as he left his wallet at home. Though he came out of the shop with a second boutique of flowers that were gorgeous. But I wouldnt help but think how on earth we were gonna lug it home. Then to add to the load he went and bought a multi pack bag of Walkers crisps as we were outta snacks lol. I tried my HARDEST to convince him we should take the bus back. It was such a long walk back up the hill and I knew hed be needing to stop every five minutes but there was no telling him. So off we went. It took over an hour to get home. He stopped several times to sit on the grass. Him holding this giant boutique of flowers and me the multipack of crisps lol. If only someone else had been there to take a picture. Well we made it but he obviously was wrecked after. Happy though, thats what counts. Moving onto Wednesday now, Gray came down from Liverpool. Lovely to see him though he left mid afternoon the next day. Thursday he had his first appt at Christies. They took bloods yet again and noted his calcium and bilirubin levels were elevated again. The Dr sent him straight to the ward to be put on a drip. He thought he needed it asap. They were there for hours upon hours. During the consultation the Dr told them they have found something on the lung, it was official and to top it off they cant start any chemo until they find out why his calcium and bilirubin levels keep getting so high. To me its obvious the tumour on the liver is causing that, its not rocket science! Now he has to wait another TWO WEEKS for more tests nevermind treatment. All in all Thurs was horrible. Then if things werent devastating enough on the way to the postbox Dad had a nasty fall and hit his head on the concrete. A passer by just walked right on over him not even asking him if he needed help, probably assuming he was drunk. So Dads now sporting a black eye and a skinned knee. Thankfully he made it back home ok and Mum got ice on it right away to save a trip to A&E. Just a horrible, horrible day. Dads now banned to step a toe out the frontdoor without one of us, its in his best interests. Coming upto date to tonight Dad and I watched the comedy Baby Mama in my room. It was nice, quality time. Weve got ALOT going on next week too. District nurse on Mon, Macmillen Nurse, bath equip guy and garden stuff delivered Tues, my Wythenshaw appt Weds. All systems go. Please continue to keep Dad in your prayers, he needs as much as he can get right now.
